S.T.O.P. Obesity 5K on January 21

I was a fat kid.  My best friend was a REALLY fat kid.  Although cute now, it sucked back then and having to shop at a specialty shop to find ‘husky’ sizes was anything but cute.  Now more than ever, stopping obesity and staying healthy is important for kids.  Treeswing is an organization that’s actively addressing this issue.  For the past 5 years, Treeswing has been a leading voice on the issue of childhood obesity. Currently a quarter of Washington youth are overweight, putting them at high risk of diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and asthma. Treeswing’s goal is to increase the number of opportunities for youth to be physically active and increase access to healthy foods in schools. Long term, we aim to change norms so that health is so embedded into the school culture that the healthy choice is the natural choice.
